Events
New Mexico Tech is developing two closely-related cybersecurity centers, one focused on cybersecurity education and the other focused on economic development for New Mexico. The two centers are overseen by a single director, Dr. Lorie M. Liebrock, who reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and works closely on economic development with the Executive Director of the NMT Office of Innovation Commercialization.

Space Cyber Resiliency Speaker Series
Space Cyber Resiliency Speaker Series
Fridays Noon to 2pm (some sessions may end early)
This series will familiarize the audience with the aspects of the space domain, space systems, and cyber as it applies to space systems, including criticality of space, unique vulnerabilities, tools, how to conduct vulnerability assessments, and consequent research. Talks are hosted by NMCCoE with guest presenters from AFRL's SpaceForce.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's National Advisory Council (NAC)met on September 25-26, 2024. The meeting was open to public through virtual and in-person means. The meeting was for the NAC to finalize and vote on recommendations to the FEMA Administrator on a variety of topics that directly affect national emergency managment. Dr. Liebrock, Director of the NMCCoE at NMT, is the Cybersecurity Selection for the NAC and participated in person in this meeting that has national consequences to sufferors of disaster. Codebreaker Challenge Kickoff
September 16, 2024 through January 17, 2025
Codebreaker Challenge is kicking off again with reverse engineering, vulerability research & exploitation, cryptanalysis, artificial intellegence & machine learning, forensics, and programming. Free Cyber Training Certification Programs: Network Security Certificate & Online Wireless Communication Certificate

The University of Arizona, Partnership for Proactive Cybersecurity and Training (PACT) will be offering a FREE Cyber Training Certification Program to any student (graduate/undergraduate) currently enrolled in any Minority Serving Institution Partnership Program (MSIPP) institution. There are two training being offered, Online Network Security Certificate and Online Wireless Communication Certificate and the duration is from November 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. Please share this opportunity with partners, labs and most importantly the students. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in cybersecurity or for student looking to expand their knowledge bank within cybersecurity. For more information, the flyer and forms are attached. Students can fill out the forms and email the forms or any additional questions as mentioned in the form. Please also email Michael Hargather so he can track who from NMT has registered for which training.

CMMC Workshop
September 14, 15 & 17, 2021
As part of the CyberReady joint initiative, New Mexico's Economic Development Department (EDD), Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE), and Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) have worked together to develop a cybersecurity training workshop focused on the new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) guidelines. The CyberReady workshop will help prepare New Mexico businesses for the required cyber practices set forth by the federal government.
The $200 workshop will take place online from Sept 14, 15 & 17 and is open to all
NM businesses. Register online by Sept 10 in our Marketplace.

Tracer FIRE
August 27-29, 2021
On August 27-29 Sandia National Labs along with ENMU, NMSU, NMT, and UNM will be hosting
a Tracer FIRE Event. At this event, students will investigate advanced persistent
threat (APT) style adversary throughout the simulation.
• Who is an adversary?
• How did they get in?
• What did they want, and did they succeed?
• How do we prevent recurring incidents?
This event gives students insight into the following: How to recognize
adversarial tactics within the kill chain such as reconnaissance,
attack vector, exploitation, and exfiltration. For more info go to:

This workshop will bring together people to discuss the technologies used in food production, transportation, and agriculture with their associated cybersecurity threats, risks, and challenges to create solutions to protect our food pipeline in New Mexico and beyond.
This workshop is jointly sponsored by the New Mexico Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity and Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems.

Cybersecurity Center of Excellence: Economic Development Lunch & Learn

New Mexico Governor Lujan-Grisham's Cybersecurity Center of Excellence is holding
a Cybersecurity Economic Development Outreach event in Ruidoso to discuss the cyber
attacks that are affecting businesses and municipalities in New Mexico. This event
is being held in collaboration with Eastern New Mexico University - Ruidoso at their
facility.
The CCoE will host a presentation and demonstration of top cybersecurity attacks and
mitigations (approximately one hour). We will stay to allow time for questions and
discussion. While registration is required, there is no fee for this event. Lunch will be provided.

Cybersecurity Game Jam
Starts at 6 pm on Friday, Nov. 22nd in Cramer 213. Demos will begin at 2 pm on Sunday, Nov. 24.
What is a game jam? The term Game Jam is a way to describe the collaborative act of producing something with no prior preparation in an effort to develop new game material or simply to practice the art of coding.
